I only ended up running three miles (and did walk a bit for those three miles) because....here is my list of excuses: My husband backed out on me last minute. Said he was dreading it. My brother was sick so he backed out. (would not have made a big difference if he was but I'm thinking I might have been able to convince him to walk with me since he's my brother). And, my headphones stopped working like 5 minutes into the race! That's a big one! Do not buy these headphones at Best Buy. Not sure what they are called, but they are NIKE and are blue with red ear buds.
Now I have to say Erin, my sis in law, was beyond nice. She kept telling me she would stop and walk with me, but I felt horrible because she had been training for the White Rock Half Marathon on December 13 (get out there and support her!!) and I didn't want to slow her and her brother down. While she was completely willing to walk with me, she kicked butt and finished her 8 miles in 10 min 30 sec miles. SO PROUD!
I start training tonight with a 3 mile run. I'm looking forward to taking an appropriate amount of time to train. (I tried to do the 8 mile turkey trot with only 5 weeks to train) That's all. I'm excited and wanted to tell everyone...now if only I could start eating healthy...

Good for you!!! A half-marathon is more than I have ever run in my life! I'm so impressed! Keep up the hard work, and we'll cheer you on in the spring!
Good for you! I have done a half marathon and it definitely takes time to train :-) You'll have plenty of time since it is in March! Just be sure to stretch before and after the long runs if it is cold! I was always lazy about the "after the run" stretching and pulled muscles because of it.
